Expert advice will be on hand next week for new businesses under two years old and anyone considering starting up their own venture. Tips on grant and loan funding, business planning and networking will be among the support available in an event at the Sketty Hall Business School from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Thursday July 21. Organised by Swansea Council and Gower College Swansea, the one-stop self-employment shop is being funded through the UK Government's Community Renewal Fund. Training and workshop opportunities will be on hand too, as well as cashflow forecasting advice and support for social enterprises. Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: "We do a huge amount of work as council to support our businesses and encourage innovation and enterprise. "Swansea has so much business talent, but young businesses often need specialist advice in areas like funding and networking so they can successfully set-up and then thrive for many years. "Organised in partnership with Gower College Swansea, this event will help meet these needs while also signposting businesses that attend to additional sources of guidance and support." Organisations attending the event to provide tips include Swansea Council, Gower College Swansea, Swansea University, Business Wales, Superfast Business Wales, Urban Foundry, Focus Features, Big Ideas Wales, Cowork Local, Cwmpas and the Development Bank of Wales. The event is free to attend, with no bookings needed. Email businessswansea@swansea.gov.uk for more information.
